Grand gesture for Dumbarton's Knowetop farm

DUMBARTON’S Knowetop Farm received a welcome cash boost last week.

The farm, whose future has been in doubt because of a lack of funding, was gifted £250 from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Dunbartonshire.

Knowetop, which has been running for 29 years, relies heavily on donations. Last year staff and volunteers appealed for support to stop the project folding when grant aid ran out.

When lodge members heard about the crisis, they decided to donate the cash from their benevolent fund which is supported by the 21 lodges in Dunbartonshire.

Tom Leckenby, the lodge’s Provincial Grand Master, said: “We hope our donation plays a small part in keeping the farm alive for the benefit of the community.”
