A DUMBARTON-based band is gearing up for its very first gig.
Forever Broken, made up of members from Dumbarton and the Vale, will take to the stage in Glasgow on Sunday.
And they are saving the money they make from the gig to pay for their demo.
Lead singer Paul Callanin, who also plays the guitar with the band, can’t wait to get on the stage at Pivo Pivo on Glasgow’a Waterloo Street on July 26.
He said: “For the gig in Glasgow, the organiser had asked if we could bring 15 people, but there will be about 70 people coming with all the friends and family. When we told him, he said ‘you’re joking, this place is going to be rocking’.”
The group settled on their final formation recently after members had performed with a different band.
Paul continued: “I had already been in a band years ago with some of the guys and I heard they were looking for a singer and the lead guitarist left because of musical differences.
“As well as the gig in Glasgow, we have been asked to play in Dublin. A band from there viewed our Bebo and asked us to support them.”
The band is made up of lead guitarist Jamie Morning from Alexandria, drummer Sandy Meikle from Dumbarton and bassist Andrew Brown from Bonhill, as well as Paul on lead vocals and guitar.
They have been busy rehearsing for the gig and building up their portfolio of songs ahead of recording their demo next month.
Paul continued: “We’re not going to spend any of the money we make from the gig. We are getting the money off the door and we are going to put it straight into the demo.”
