EDUCATION in West Dunbartonshire has been given a great report card from government inspectors.
Both education functions and education psychology in the area was under scrutiny by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education.
And the local authority came out with top marks.
West Dunbartonshire Council was praised for improving literacy standards and attainment levels of vulnerable youngsters.
Nursery schools were also given praise for the learning experiences provided and the council as a whole was given good feedback for the promotion of health and wellbeing to children and families.
Partnership working and arts, libraries and culture services were also singled out for praise in the report.
Pointers for action given to the council were to keep up the good work and ensure that young people’s views were given the chance to be aired.
An action plan will now be drawn up as to how to maintain the high standard.
Meanwhile, the authority’s education psychology services were also being assessed.
This part of the council’s education work, based in Duntocher, was heaped with praise for its good partnership work and help given to families.
Due to the excellent report, inspectors will make no more reports relating to this inspection but like the education service as a whole, an action plan will be drawn up.
