Helensburgh Heroes launch their version of David Bowie's Heroes

A VERSION of David Bowie’s iconic song Heroes, as performed by a group of Helensburgh people, will be premiered on August 1.

Helensburgh Heroes will unveil the results of their hard work when they have the official release and first showing of the track and video.

The group got together in a bid to raise awareness of both the talented and inspirational people who have hailed from the town and the desperate need for an arts and leisure centre.

Kenny Hyslop, a drummer with Simple Minds, who was born in Helensburgh, produced the backing track and Langside College’s head of music, Alan Craig, directed the group.

Helensburgh woman Kirsten Easdale, who is a recording artist, used her experience to help lead the singers.

She said: “I have had the pleasure of working with a dedicated group of vocalists who have given everything they possibly could to ensure that our final product is as good as anything released by professional artists.”

The artwork for the CD was created by three Helensburgh primary school pupils who won a local competition to design a cover for the project which attracted over 200 entries.
