DUMBARTON could be set to have another band explode on to the music scene in the form of pop-punk act Closed Off Comedown.
The five-piece act – singer Scott Williamson, lead guitarist Brian Holmes, rhythm guitarist Dominic Kearney, drummer Adam McCrossan and bassist Ally Ryan – play Clydebank’s Cosmopol venue on Friday night.
All the lads are local, with their ages ranging from 18 to 22, and they’re aiming to make it to the big time.
Scott said: “We’ve only been playing together since the start of 2009, so we’re just looking to get the ball rolling.
“We’ve already played four gigs supporting a London band called My Passion, and we have a show coming up at Cosmopol in Clydebank.
“Then we are due to record an EP in Edinburgh, which we hope to upload to iTunes. Our aim is to go the distance like everybody else.”
Scott, who got the band together while studying music technology, is hoping that Friday’s headlining gig is just the start of a rise to the top.
The band are influenced by any screamo/pop-punk act and hope that their EP, to be released later this month, will help them make it.
Scott added: “Adam and I were friends through our college course. I already knew Dom, and Adam already knew Brian and Ally, and that was how we got together.
“I used to be the bass player in another band. I don’t know what I want to do in the real world, but this is definitely something I’m interested in.
“The EP will consist of four tracks and should be released around July 12. After that we just need to get the word spread as much as we can.
“We are hoping to go on a five-day Scottish tour and eventually try to extend that and make it to the big time.”
The band’s Cosmopol gig starts at 8pm.
