West Dunbartonshire kids can get sporty

LOOKING for something for the kids to do during the October week holiday?

Well look no further – West Dunbartonshire Sports Development team have a launched multisports camps to keep the kids occupied on those school holidays.

The camps are all about children having fun and learning about hockey, athletics, basketball and badminton in a safe and friendly environment.

Activities are designed to improve, challenge and test their current skills and are open to children of any ability from eight to 12 years of age.

The well-trained coaches will help each player develop at their own pace and set them individual goals within the group play.

Sports Development provides all sports equipment at the sessions, but it is important for parents to ensure that children are dressed appropriately to take part in the activity they have chosen.

Parents should also ensure they accompany their children to and from the venue as Sports Development coaches are only responsible for the participants during the session times.

The children are also taught about the importance of fair play, respecting opponents and having a healthy diet.

The Football Development section have also arranged football camps for all budding footballers aged between five and 12 years.

Each day of the camp is given a topic such as dribbling, passing or shooting.

A huge part of the children’s learning is during small-sided games. A major focus is placed on these 4-a-side and 5-a-side matches to ensure maximum participation and more touches of the ball to each player.

The children are also taught about the importance of fair play, respecting opponents and having a healthy diet.
