Emotional day as son wins memorial trophy

THE John Dalrymple Memorial Tournament was another huge success this year and, as always, sunshine graced the green for a closely-fought competition.

Dumbuck Bowling Club welcomed guests from various other clubs to the celebration of John’s life and to remember his battling spirit as he fought cancer and to save the club he loved from extinction.

And it was a particularly poignant moment when his youngest son, dad-of-four Chris, walked up to be presented with the winning trophy – following in the footsteps of big brother, John Paul, who was a previous winner.

Chris said: “I’ve waited a long time to get my hands on this and I’m not going to apologise for being emotional. It’s a great feeling.”
