Double the fun for charity

GENEROUS local tennis players gathered at Helensburgh Tennis Club recently to raise money for the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity and the local branch of Enable.

The annual mixed doubles tournament is also in memory of local tennis player Marie Dixon who contributed much to the local scene.

Players from all the local clubs, including Craighelen, Kirktonhill, Cardross and Helensburgh, raised almost £300 for the two good causes.

The winning pair were Rona Foster and Gerry Black, who narrowly beat Mike Wright and Jane Chambers in the final.

The Contribution to Tennis award was also presented at the event. The award was donated by the family of the late Marie Dixon and it was presented to Helensburgh's Ann Morrison.
