Tennis: Helensburgh teen in running for top title

WHEELCHAIR tennis sensation Gordon Reid is in the running for a top title.

The Helensburgh 17-year-old is one of the nominees for the Lawn Tennis Association’s Male Junior Player of the Year Award.

The award is open to under 18s who have had outstanding national or international results either individually or as part of a team in the past 12 months. There is no separate category for disabled players this year.

The winner is determined by online voting with the closing date Sunday, November 30.

Gordon has also been nominated in the Team of the Year category as a member of the successful four-man Invacare World Cup Team.

Fresh back from the Beijing Olympics, Gordon become the youngest ever British number one in his sport. With a host of titles already under his belt, he is now setting his sights on the 2012 event.
