JUDO star Jim McKelvie scooped a silver in the British Masters Judo Championships last weekend.
The West Dunbartonshire Council employee travelled to Walsall last weekend as one of 150 competitors in the largest Masters Judo event in the UK.
In the final, the 51-year-old met an old rival, Ronnie Saiz of Glasgow, who he beat earlier this year.
However, the Glaswegian was looking for revenge, and he got it by holding Jim for an ippon for the victory.
Jim’s silver medal result gives him a place in the British Masters Team for the coming year.
Meanwhile, the senior events and halls officer will have to wait on the result of the BJA selection commission to find out if he has succeeded in making the team for the European Team Champions in November in the Czech Republic .
Jim thanked West Dunbartonshire Council for its continuing support .
