Athletics: Dumbarton AAC members compete in cross country relays

FOUR members of Dumbarton AAC took part in the Dunbartonshire Cross Country Relays, which were recently held at Garscube Estate.

The weather and ground conditions were perfect for the event, over a 4km undulating trail within the estate.

First runner away was Jim Waters who ran the route in a time of 14.55, while second was David Pollard who completed his lap in 15.07.

He was followed by Neil Prior with a time of 14.39 and bringing up the rear was Mark Walsh, who completed his leg in 14.03. With an overall time of 58.44, Dumbarton AAC came sixth in a field of 18.

There was a good club turnout and fair weather conditions for the annual two-mile handicap race around the streets of Dumbarton last month.

First home, winning the race, was Harry Martin with a handicap time of 18.46. The first 3 male club runners were Mark Walsh 10.41, Neil Prior 11.10 and David Pollard 11.30 (actual times).

The first three female runners were Patricia Anderson 13.41, Lindsay McNicol 14.06 and Elaine Boyle 14.17 (actual times). We would also like to thank all our guest runners who took part in the event.

The next races that Dumbarton AAC will participate in are the Allan Scally 4.8 mile relay race and the Lochaber Half Marathon.
