Athletics: Clydesdale Harriers struggle for action

THE Clydesdale Harriers have found action hard to come by in recent weeks due to the severe weather.

A few races have been re-scheduled. The Jack Crawford 10k in Bishopbriggs will now take place on Saturday, February 27, and the Nigel Barge 10k at the Garscube Estate has been changed to Saturday, March 27.

On Saturday, January 9, the BUPA Great Edinburgh Inter District Cross Country Championships were held at Holyrood Park.

These events were by invitation only, so a high standard had to be achieved at the local cross country championships before selectors would consider anyone to take part.

Clydesdale Harriers were proud to have two runners selected for their events. Under 13 girl Roisin McShea ran 2600m to finish 17th in a time of 13.07 over the snow-covered course.

Under 17 man Peter Bowman ran 3900m to finish 11th in a time of 15.05 in his race. Both did the club proud.

Next race for the club is the re-scheduled SVHC Relays at Strathclyde Park in Motherwell on Sunday.
