Clydesdale Harriers notch up personal bests

THE annual pilgrimage to Carlisle took place last weekend (15th) with a large turnout of Clydesdale Harriers taking part in the 57th Brampton to Carlisle Road Race.

It was a point to point 10 mile race starting at Brampton and finishing at the Sands Centre in Carlisle.

It was a beautiful sunny day, but it was also very windy so the majority of times were down. However, two Harriers managed to achieve personal bests.

First finisher for the club was John Foley (1.03.59) followed by the ever improving Pamela McCrossan running a personal best in 1.04.37 and winning first veteran over 45 prize. Next was Bobby Rossborough (1.07.56), Craig Calderwood (1.08.40), Stephen Thompson (1.09.13), Anne Murray (1.09.33 and third veteran over 40 prizewinner), Kath Scott (1.11.19 and third veteran over 45 prizewinner), Marina McCallum (1.13.03), Hugh Watson (1.13.36), Martin King (1.13.50), Fiona McCue (1.14.26 pb), Peter Rudzinski (1.15.48) and Aileen Scott (1.17.13). Other club results weren't available for those who ran behind Aileen but another three Harriers also ran.

Pamela, Anne and Kath also managed to secure third team prize and first veteran team prize so it certainly wasn't a wasted journey for everyone.

Next races for the Harriers on November 29 are the Dunbartonshire AAA Cross Country (Kirkintilloch) and the Hugh Wilson Memorial 10k (East Kilbride).
