Clydesdale Harriers take to the hills

CLYDESDALE Harriers have been in action again this month – with three races dominating proceedings.

Last weekend, six Harriers took part in the Deloitte Glasgow University five-mile road race, starting at Garscube Estate.

The double lap course proved a hilly test but all runners seemed to cope well.

First finisher for Harriers was Gerry Montgomery in a time of 29.48, followed by John Foley (30.33), Brian Gallagher (31.39), Pamela McCrossan (31.48), Bobby Young (32.52) and Marina McCallum (35.51).

Also that weekend was the Glen Clova Half Marathon which took place in Kirriemuir, Angus. An extremely hilly but scenic course had new member Brian Reilly run home a respectable 1.31.28.

A team of Harriers took part in the Allan Scally Memorial Road Relay in Baillieston earlier this month. The men only team comprised of Bobby Young (30.58), John Foley (28.54), Michael Diver (27.48) and David Mitchell (34.10). They finished a credible 29th out of the 44 quality teams who took part.
