Clydesdale Harriers travel country for races

CLYDESDALE Harrier Prsad Prsad took second place in the Devils Beef Tub hill race last week.

Prsad’s time of 22.54 was enough to seal him the second spot in the two mile and 1500 feet ascent.

Last weekend, two Clydesdale Harriers travelled to Dumfries to run the Dumfries Half Marathon.

A scenic but hilly course was marred by the rare sight of sunshine and high temperatures which, although great for spectators, was not so good for the runners.

Paul Carroll was first Clydesdale finisher running a respectable ninth in 1:23.30.

Paul was followed by Marina McCallum in 1:41.45, an impressive run considering she is still getting back to full fitness.

The Perth Ultra Festival had Aileen Scott running in the 24-hour race. Unfortunately she only covered 60 miles and 1159 yards during that time, far short of what she is capable of.

The Stirling 10k had James Austin running an excellent 35th in a time of 35.14, while Kath Scott and Bobby Rossborough travelled south to Mablethorpe to run a marathon as part of their preparation for the Lucerne Marathon in Switzerland at the end of October.

Though it was a training run, Kath managed to win second lady prize in a time of 3:25.13, smashing her personal best time by 12 minutes. Bobby ran a more conservative race, clocking 3:39.56 and hopefully keeping a faster time for the main event in Switzerland.

For any Harriers wishing to run a time trial tomorrow (Thursday), Phil Dolan has organised one in Dalmuir Park, meeting at the bandstand at 7pm for a 7:15pm start.

This is mainly on grass, so wear appropriate running shoes for the terrain.
