Loch rack up 10 tries in a Cumnock canter

LOCH Lomond maintained their fine form by easily seeing off their Ayrshire opponents.

The lads were keen to get back into action following last week’s postponement and racked up 10 tries in this victory.

With the home side making some strong runs and their forwards piling on the pressure, it did not take long for Lomond to score their first try.

Scrum half Craig Norrie quickly tapped a penalty while the defence were asleep and plunged over in the corner with ease. Nicholson made the conversion.

Craig’s brother Ian added a second try shortly after following good link up play with front row Urquhart. The conversion was missed.

Mathieson and Craig Norrie added another try each, while Nicholson converted once, before half time.

Coach Iain Ross called for his players to get the ball wide at every opportunity and be more ruthless in possession. It wasn’t long before Lomond added to their lead.

Nicholson touched down following a good move from the forwards, while Craig Norrie scored his third after breaking down the blindside from a maul. McAdam then converted.

Ferrier and Flynn, who were outstanding in the back row, got in on the try act after cutting through space in the Cumnock defence.

Mathieson scored his second with a strong run and McAdam converted, before Urquhart rounded off the scoring by touching down from close range.

Cumnock scored a penalty late on.

Next week Lomond travel to Stranraer to play Wigtownshire.
