St Andrew’s (Carntyne) 1
Our Lady and St Patrick’s High 4
Scottish Schools Cup Under-15s, round two
THIS game started with both sides showing great commitment.
But the early stalemate was dramatically broken by OLSP’s Liam Moffat when he took a pass from Evan Doleman in midfield and set off down the left, before unleashing a superb shot into the centre of the goal.
The visitors’ second goal came when Moffat sent over a corner which Kevin McNaught headed powerfully against the keeper but Shaun Ronald was on hand to score the rebound.
The lead was reduced just before half time when St Andrew’s pulled one back.
But they could not build on it and the second half had barely started before Paul Vance extended OLSP’s lead with a sudden, unexpected shot.
And victory was sealed when Andrew Clark was played in by Andrew Larkin and he shot powerfully home for number four.
After that killer goal, St Andrew’s had probably their best spell of the match.
But OLSP were able to see out the game successfully and it was a deserved victory for the visitors, for whom Chris Dunn took over in goal at short notice.
OLSP: Dunn; Doleman, Ronald, Vance, McCurley, Crawford, Larkin, Joyce, McFarlane, Moffat, Clark, McNaught, Mair, Black.
