Football: West Dunbartonshire midnight league kicks off

YOUNG footballers across West Dunbartonshire can enjoy a free game of five or seven-a-side football every Friday night by joining the Bank of Scotland Midnight League, which kicks off this week.

Boys and girls aged 12-18 can take part in the competition at St Peter the Apostle High School in Clydebank, from 8pm to 10pm every Friday until March 12.

Councillor Jim McElhill, West Dunbartonshire Council’s spokesperson for Environmental Services and Economic Development, said: “Anyone can come along, either as an individual or as a group. You might have an existing team or just fancy joining a team.

“And don’t be put off if you don’t live in Clydebank – there will be mini-bus pick-ups from Bellsmyre Advice Centre, the chippy on Castlehill Road in Dumbarton and the Community Centre in Bonhill to take you there and back.”

Prizes for various categories will be presented at the end of the Midnight League.

For further information or to register your interest, call 01389 753075 or email paul.dolan@west-dunbarton.gov.uk

Spaces on the buses will be limited so please call the same number to book.
