Dumbarton Accies players collect awards

DUMBARTON Academy FPs had their presentation night on Saturday at Dumbarton’s Eastfield Bowling Club, with players from all four teams taking prizes.

The prizewinners were:

Club awards

Club Man of the Year: Mark Docherty. Presidents’ Plate: Robert Porter. Player of the Year: Andrew MacDonald. Top Scorer: Derek Readie. Most Improved Player: Martin O'Neill

Caledonian team

Player of the Year: Andrew MacDonald. Players’ Player of the Year: Andrew MacDonald. Top Scorer: Derek Readie

West of Scotland team

Player of the Year: Ross Stormonth. Players’ Player of the Year: Alan Davie. Top Scorer: Alan Davie

Under-21 team

Player of the Year: Ryan Banks. Players Player of the Year: Leo Daremas. Top Scorer: Gary Rafferty

Under-19 team

Player of the Year: Greg Pritchard. Players Player of the Year: Jonathan Redpath. Top Scorer: Scott Thornton. Most Improved Player: David Grant

The club reflected on a successful season where the under-21s won promotion while the Caledonian team won the Douglas Smith League Cup.

Norman McDermid and Darren Pennycuick will join the club’s committee, but under-19 manager Billy Ferguson has decided to retire.

The club extends thanks to all those who made it another good campaign.

DUMBARTON Accies under-19s are looking for players for all positions for next season.

Pre-season training starts at midday on Saturday, July 4, at Braehead Primary School, Dumbarton, and also on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30pm.
