LOCH Lomond tested their side in a friendly against a team from Kilmacolm who are keen to join the West District League Division 4 next season.
Lomond opted to play without a keeper and so had 11 players of varying levels of experience on the pitch.
Lomond were immediately on the attack with all pressure being applied by Eliza Ritchie and Holly Reid.
Many goalmouth scrambles ensued, but Lomond just did not have the finishing touch to make the game theirs.
Several short corners in the first half were not converted as the Lomond attack were too slow in taking a viable shot.
However, the experience gained here will help build their confidence as they held their own against their adult opponents.
Kilmacolm managed to get through on the break as the Lomond midfield were caught too far upfield to get back in time to defend.
The Lomond defence managed to keep the Kilmacolm pressure mainly outside the D and deny their forwards a goal-scoring situation.
Having no keeper was the right choice, as Kilmacolm only managed the occasional foray, and they were expertly controlled by Barbara MacDonald.
Both teams benefited from this game as Kilmacolm proved that they have enough players and support to sustain a viable team in the West District League.
Loch Lomond’s youngsters were able to play what was a fairly even game and build on their experience and confidence for the future.
