Jim Chapman’s view on the latest events at Dumbarton FC

DUMBARTON boss Jim Chapman hasn’t just missed out on games because of the weather – he’s also been unable to do any transfer deals.

The Sons gaffer saw a bounce game fall through at the weekend as Toryglen Football Centre was unavailable.

But he’s already made moves to book the facility for this Saturday if the second division match away to Brechin City is postponed.

Due to the lack of games, Jim has also had to be patient so far during the January transfer window.

He said: “We are trying to keep everybody ticking over and despite having no bounce game on Saturday, the players have continued to work hard.

“We were unable to get access to Toryglen, but we already have a schedule in place for this Saturday if the Brechin game is called off.

“I don’t think we are any different to other teams in how frustrated we are by the current weather.

“Due to the lack of games, it has also been quiet on the transfer front. We have made enquiries about players we feel can take the club forward, but had little response.

“We will just need to keep contacting the right people, but we will not rush into anything.

“Some clubs have also been asking about our players, but while that is a credit to those players, I have no intention of letting any of them go right now.

“Brechin will be a difficult game, but we gave a good account of ourselves at Glebe Park in August and had a very entertaining 0-0 draw with them at home in October.

“So there is not much between the teams. We will have to make the best of what we have.”
