IF the weather is kinder than in recent weeks, and the thaw at the start of the week is maintained, Dumbarton could finally return to action on Saturday with an away day at Brechin City.
It has now been a month since Sons last kicked a competitive ball, so the trip to Glebe Park will be an important one.
City are currently fourth in the second division, four points clear of Sons and two points behind third-placed Alloa.
The two meetings of the teams so far this season have resulted in a 3-1 win for City at Glebe Park in August and a goalless draw at the Rock in October.
Like Sons, Brechin’s last game was on Tuesday, December 15, when they drew 2-2 at home to Peterhead.
They may return to action tonight (Wednesday), as their Active Nation Scottish Cup fourth round tie away to Ayr United, postponed on Saturday, is re-scheduled for this evening.
Both Sons and Brechin will be hoping the weather continues to relent and that the game will be able to be played.
Kick-off will be at the usual 3pm, with the Sons Supporters Trust’s bus leaving the Strathclyde Homes Stadium at 11am.
A few seats are still available, costing £7 for trust members and £10 for non-members. Call Alan Findlay on 07904 666014 to book for this bus only.
