Dumbarton FC: Derek Carcary signs new deal

DEREK Carcary wants Dumbarton to aim high in next season’s second division, having signed a new deal at the Rock.

Derek’s explosive pace has made him a real fans’ favourite, and they are delighted he has put pen to paper on a new contract to keep him with Sons.

And he thinks that, with Ayr United and Raith Rovers now out of the second division, it is all to play for next season.

He said: “Once the manager offered me a contract, I didn’t take much time to think about it.

“Next season will be tough in the second division, but it will be a good experience and hopefully we can cement a place in that league.

“Last year you had Ayr United and Raith Rovers pulling away at the top. Both are now promoted, so I don’t see why we shouldn’t target a high finish.”

Derek was one of the Sons players who took part in an informal training session on Saturday, but can’t wait for the real thing to come around this weekend.

He added: “The summer has flown in, but we are looking forward to getting back into training.

“Once we get through all the formalities, we will be anxious to get started.

“We are really looking forward to facing Middlesbrough. I never expected it myself, but it will be a good test for us.”
