IAIN Chisholm has already started his build-up to the new season after signing a new deal with Dumbarton last week.
The midfielder was one of many players to re-sign for Sons and now can’t wait to get into training next month.
He also thinks Dumbarton should aim high for next season as they look in better shape than the sides who went up to the second division last summer.
He said: “I think we should aim to finish at least in the top four next season. I played for Albion Rovers against teams like East Fife and Arbroath and I think we’re better than they were.
“My pre-season has started already. I’m looking forward to returning to training next month, as I always do.
“I don’t mind pre-season as all you want to do over summer is return to action, especially after the season we’ve just had.”
Like most of the squad, Iain rates last season as his best in senior football so far, having played in most of the games as Sons took the third division title.
He added: “It’s brilliant to have re-signed and it’s good that most of the boys who were heavily involved in the league success will be there again next season.
“I had no hesitation in accepting the terms offered to me. It wasn’t really anything to do with the money, it’s just to do with the club.
“Last season was my best in football, especially with the dressing room we had. It was always fun to play alongside our players.
“All the boys came together at the end of the season and that was what brought the run of seven wins out of eight and only one goal conceded. You can’t beat that kind of record.”
