Dumbarton FC: Jim Chapman tight-lipped on Chaplain move

DUMBARTON manager Jim Chapman is giving nothing away in relation to a potential move for Partick Thistle’s Scott Chaplain.

Sons were linked last week with a move for the midfielder, who is to be released by the first division runners-up.

The gaffer has worked with Chaplain before at Albion Rovers, where the 25-year-old was third division player of the year in 2007, but Jim refused to confirm or deny speculation that he is interested in signing the player a second time – and admitted wages may be a stumbling block.

He said: “It’s all speculation right now. We have been made aware of Scott’s availability and that of several other players.

“He is a player we know and admire, and would fit into our style of play, but reality kicks in regarding his personal circumstances.

“He has been full-time at Partick and if there is something better out there for him then I am certain he will readily accept it.

“He knows that he can trust us but the key is not to hang around and wait. We have looked at signing targets for a long time and he might be one of them, but there is no guarantee it will happen.”
