Dumbarton FC's Ross Clark: 'Deal me in'

TOP scorer Ross Clark is gunning for Alloa next season after Dumbarton clinched the third division title.

The midfielder came to Sons in the summer having been freed by the Wasps, who will be in league opposition next season.

Dumbarton’s players are due to have contract talks for next season this week and Ross, the club’s top scorer and player of the year, is expected to sign a new deal.

He said: “This time last year I was going through the pain of being freed by Alloa. For the last two weeks of the season I wasn’t even going to games, I was just sitting at home.

“It would be nice to be able to exact revenge on them next season, although I’ve had a few messages from my ex-teammates there to say congratulations.

“I don’t know what will happen for next season, but I am sure we will work something out. We will be in this week for talks and I am positive something will happen. I love it here, getting the chance to play every week.”

The title success capped a remarkable few days for Ross, who heard last week that he had his old job back.

He was made redundant as an engineer at Rolls Royce in his native East Kilbride last month, just as Sons’ eight-match unbeaten run started.

He said: “I got the phone call last Friday to say I was back in at my work, and then I won all those awards last Saturday night after we virtually sealed the title.”
