Dumbarton FC: Jim Chapman wins manager of April award

DUMBARTON manager Jim Chapman has won his second manager of the month award of the season for Sons’ fine performances in April.

The boss was given the prize after his team won three and drew one of their games during the month without conceding a goal.

But Jim gave credit to everybody at the club, including sports psychologist Doug Bairner, who has been helping out with the squad in recent weeks.

He said: “I’m just glad that we beat the curse, as I picked up the trophy on Thursday before the Annan match.

“It is just recognition for everybody at the club, especially Doug, who added to the belief and confidence that the players had.

“It was good to have a professional coming in as I knew there was ability in the dressing room and he brought a lot out of them.”

Jim was also third division manager of the month for October, and also won the prize once with Albion Rovers in January 2007.
