Dumbarton win Third Divison title

DUMBARTON clinched the Third Divison title in style with a resounding win over Annan Athletic.

Knowing that only a disastrous result could see them lose the top spot, the Sons ensured that there would be no upset with a confident performance.

Ross Clark set Dumbarton on their way with a well-taken goal in the 23rd minute.

Shortly after the break, the title celebrations began when Denis McLaughlin put Dumbarton 2-0 up and news filtered through that East Stirling were failing to get the mountain of goals required to leapfrog the Sons.

Peter Watson pulled one back for Annan but Derek Carcary's late goal was the icing on the cake for Dumabrton as the title party got into full swing.
