Dumbarton FC supporters make six-mile trek for charity

AROUND 50 Dumbarton fans took part in the Walk to the Rock from Loch Lomond Shores on Saturday.

The supporters walked from the tourist complex to the Strathclyde Homes Stadium in just over three hours in time for Sons’ 4-0 win over Forfar Athletic.

The Sons Supporters Trust event raised money for the club’s youth development initiative and St Vincent’s Hospice in Howwood, Renfrewshire. It is hoped that a total raised will be announced soon.

Among the walkers in the glorious sunshine on Saturday morning was Sons chairman Alan Jardine.

Trust secretary and director Alan Findlay said: “What a fantastic achievement by the members of the Sons Supporters Trust on Saturday morning.

“The second Walk to the Rock proved to be a pre-cursor for what was about to unfold at the stadium by Sons beating Forfar as it was a terrific success.

“Thanks to everyone who got up early, made pledges, donated and generally supported the causes, which will be St Vincent’s Hospice in Renfrew and the club’s youth development initiative.”
