WE could afford to be slightly disappointed at not taking all three points as we gave everything we had, but just lacked the knockout blow we needed.
We defended brilliantly as we knew that the biggest threat would come from set pieces and long throw-ins. The defenders did their jobs outstandingly and it gave us a platform to take the game to Cowdenbeath.
Missing the penalty gave Cowden a bit more belief. We knew they would get an opportunity at some time and we can perhaps view the miss as a turning point, but we will not harp on about it.
I had nothing but the utmost admiration for Stevie Murray as he had the guts to take it and he bounced back from it.
We took the game to them from the first whistle and Paul Keegan was unlucky with a chance in the first minute.
The players’ attitude and application was yet again first-class, and I had sympathy for them. If they continue to do things as they have been doing, then they will finally get their reward. We certainly hope that other teams can do us a favour, but firstly we have to get our results right. We must aim for maximum points between now and the end of the season.
We can only hope that the injury situation will improve for next week. Ross Clark is getting an extra rest, which might do him good in terms of making the Forfar game.
Derek Carcary’s injury is proving more troublesome than we thought, so there is no definitive answer as to when he will return.
Paul McLeod is back in training, but hamstring injuries can flare up again quickly with players of his pace.
