SKIPPER Gordon Lennon revealed that Dumbarton’s players didn’t watch Scotland’s 3-0 defeat to Holland together – but are aiming for a booze-up to celebrate promotion instead.
With no game on Saturday due to the international, the squad had a training session at the Rock to prepare for three away games this week.
That sequence started with a win at Elgin City on Tuesday before further trips to Stenhousemuir on Saturday and Forfar next Tuesday.
Despite the 10-point gap behind leaders Cowdenbeath, Gordon reckons there are more twists to come in the title race.
And the Sons players are saving their party spirit for any celebrations they may have cause for at the end of the season.
Gordon said: “We didn’t get out as a group to watch the Holland v Scotland game. Some of us had our own plans, but we hope that our next group outing will be to celebrate promotion or the title.
“I don’t see why we can’t catch Cowdenbeath. Ten points is a big gap and to have it at this stage of the season is very comfortable.
“But it’s been proven that anybody can beat anybody in this league. We have seven crucial games left and it is up to us to treat them appropriately.
“If Cowden win their remaining games then they will of course be champions, but if we win all our games then you never know what can happen.
“It would be very foolish to say there will be no more twists in the title race. It tells its own story that the team in seventh is within a victory of the play-off places.
“Whether any further turns will work in our favour remains to be seen, but we just have to remain focused.”
He added: “In the last three games, results have not gone our way, and one point out of nine tells its own story.
“The players are all too aware that this week’s games will be a strong indication of what we can hope for over the rest of the season.”
