Dumbarton crash to defeat at East Stirling

DUMBARTON'S promotion challenge sustained a real setback on Saturday when they lost 5-2 to East Stirling.

Sons were 5-0 down within just over an hour thanks to a double by Shire's Brian Graham and further goals by Andy Rodgers, Craig Donaldson and David Dunn.

Derek Carcary and Ben Gordon pulled late goals back but there was no hiding that Sons fell way short of their recent standards.

And manager Jim Chapman was not impressed after his team fell five points behind third division leaders Stenhousemuir.

It was Sons' second game on Ochilview Park's plastic pitch in as many weeks, having played Stenny there last week and come away with a creditable 1-1 draw.
