Dumbarton FC loan players to junior clubs

SONS have loaned two of their younger first team players to junior clubs.

Defender Jonathan Yule has joined Benburb on loan and played against Vale of Leven on Saturday.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jason McLaughlin has gone on loan to Central District Second Division side Greenock.

SONS’ under-17 and under-19 teams both lost at the weekend, the under-17s losing 1-0 away to Queen of the South, and the under-19s beaten 5-2 by Ayr United, Kieran Brannan and Daly McSorley scoring.

MANAGER Jim Chapman, players Gordon Lennon and Mark McGeown and kit man Stevie Hunter triumphed in the annual trust quiz on Saturday evening.

A total of 21 teams took part in the quiz, now in its eighth year, and the trust was delighted with the evening.

THE trust is now trying to organise a second bus to Fraserburgh on Saturday, October 25, after the first one sold out.

At least 25 fans must register for the second bus to run. Thanks to a sponsorship deal with HG Engineering, costs are just £7 for trust members and £10 non-members.

There are also spaces for the bus to Montrose next Saturday. That bus leaves the Strathclyde Homes Stadium at 11am and costs are £8 for trust members and £11 for non-members.

To book for either trip call Tommy Hughes on 01389 758105 or visit www.sonstrust.net

FORMER Scotland boss Craig Brown will be a speaker at the trust’s sportsman’s dinner, which takes place on Saturday, March 21 at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium.

The dinner will be chaired by Mitchell Gibb and comedian Patrick Rolink will once again be a speaker, having chaired last season’s event.

The dinner celebrates the 25th anniversary of Sons gaining promotion to the Premier League in season 1983-84, which makes Brown’s presence rather ironic, as he was manager of the Clyde team Sons drew with at Boghead to clinch that promotion.

Tickets for the event cost £40, with tables of eight available for £320. For details call Alan Findlay on 07904 666014 or email secy@sonstrust.net

THE Sons Lotto jackpot is now £9500 after no-one matched all four of last week’s numbers, which were 3, 8, 25 and 26.

Eight players won £10 for matching three numbers. They were A Spraggs (Cardross), I Stewart (Tullichewan), E Dalziel (Jamestown), S Marrs (Bonhill) and A McFarland, G McCallion, W Wanless and M Reid (all Dumbarton).

The next draw takes place today (Wednesday) at Boyd’s Shop, Dumbarton, at noon.
