STRIKER Steven Weir, on trial at Dumbarton earlier in August, has signed for second division Arbroath while ex-Sons midfielder Chris Hamilton has joined Stirling Albion after returning from his spell with the Dallas Tornados.

A CHARITY football match featuring several ex-Dumbarton players will take place at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium on Sunday, September 14.

The Sons Old Boys, who include current boss Jim Chapman, will take on celebrity outfit Dukla Pumpherston.

There will also be a guest appearance from actor Stephen Purdon, best known as Shellsuit Bob in River City.

The game is in aid of the Cystic Fybrosis Trust and kicks off at 2pm. Tickets are now available, costing £4 for adults and £1 for concessions.

THE Sons Supporters Trust’s annual quiz night takes place at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium on Saturday, October 4.

Entry for a team of up to six people costs £30, which includes a buffet. To book call Alan Findlay on 07904 666014 or email secy@sonstrust.net

SONS’ youth teams had mixed results against Queen’s Park on Sunday.

The under-19s beat the Spiders 2-1 at Glenhead Park in Duntocher. However, the under-17s were beaten 4-2 at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium.

THE Sons Lotto jackpot is now £6500 after no-one matched all four of last week’s numbers, which were 18, 20, 25 and 29.

Eight players won £10 for matching three numbers. They were W Perry (Glasgow), J McTeague (Helensburgh), F Nazir, D Harrison and R Britton (all Alexandria) and A Slack, B Morton and M Graham (all Dumbarton).

The next draw takes place today (Wednesday) at the Glencairn Lounge, Dumbarton, at noon.
