FIREFIGHTER Raymond Logan rescued Dumbarton from two emergencies last week – thanks to his crucial equalising goals, writes Andy Galloway.
The midfielder headed Sons level with 15 minutes remaining of Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Elgin City, on the back of his late extra time equaliser against Annan in the Co-operative Cup.
Raymond was disappointed by events at Elgin on Saturday, but is confident things will improve.
He said: “We are all there to play our part but I’m pleased to have got the two goals. It’s not a bad start considering I started the season on the bench.
“Obviously we were hoping to win the games we’ve had but it’s a new team, with a new formation, and I’m sure we will come good pretty soon.
“It is tough for everyone going to Elgin but our first half performance was terrible all through the side. We weren’t playing to our capabilities.
“But we got a swift kick up the backside at half time and, after our second half performance, we maybe deserved to win.
“I had quite a few chances against Annan so I was just happy to see one of them hit the net eventually.”
And Raymond, signed in the summer from Pollok, isn’t worried by the prospect of another long journey to Berwick this week.
He added: “It’s good to get all the boys together on the bus. We have to do these journeys at some point, so there’s no time like the present.
“One positive in recent games has been the character we’ve shown to come from a goal down, with everyone working together.
“Now the manager will be trying to hammer home the message that we need to start games better.”
