THE West of Scotland Women’s Bowling Association held their district finals last Monday at Rhu Bowling Club.
But there was bad luck for Rita Murray in the singles event after she developed a problem with her knee and had to concede the tie to Dorothy Heron.
Other results were:
Pairs: Radnor Park (Isa Paterson, Betty Donaghy) 16; Old Kilpatrick (Rae Beattie, Betty Angus) 14.
Two-bowl Pairs: Vale of Leven (Margaret Smith, Margaret Weir) 22; Colgrain (Maureen Fury, Rae Nichols) 4.
Triples: Ardrishaig (Joan Robertson, Margaret Annan, Fiona McLachlan) 29; Eastfield (Christine Brown, May McKinnon, Marjorie Dallas) 3.
Fours: Cardross (Karen Muir, Sheena McDonald, Marion McClenaghan, Irene Aitken) 8; Helensburgh (Muriel Gault, Frances Friel, Rona Jay, Wilma Reid) 14.
The winners will go forward to play in various clubs in the next round.
TWO further Dumbarton Associated Bowling Clubs cup competitions took place recently, namely the Syd Walters Triples, won by Renton BC and the McFarlane Trophy, was won by Dumbarton BC.

IN THE Inter-county Cup, Dumbartonshire BA were away to Renfrewshire BA, with players from 27 clubs in each of the associations playing last Saturday on greens in the Paisley area.
After a keen afternoon’s bowling Renfrewshire BA were declared the winners by 419 shots to Dumbarton BA’s 352.
The highest up club on the winning side were Ferguslie BC who defeated Brock BC 36-12.
Meanwhile, the highest up club on the losing side were Colgrain BC, who defeated Ralston BC 28-8.
