Bowls: Dumbarton and District bowlers in action

ALL three of Dumbarton and District’s Indoor club teams were in action at the weekend, with the seniors away to Ayr, the gents away to Ardrossan and the ladies at home to Glasgow

The ladies, on home territory against Glasgow after a week of inaction, were in fine combative form and won 96-82. Individual rinks scores (Dumbarton skips first) – A. Christie 28 M. Bain 20; M. Stickings 18 H. Moore 24; R. Murray 36 M. Gunning 14; J. Waltham 14 A. Quinn 24.

The gents team, having lost ground on the leaders last week by going down at Irvine, travelled to Ardrossan.

This was a far better performance, and they came away with an 81-65 win. Individual rink scores (Dumbarton skips first) – B. Neeson 19 J. Carswell 16; S. Hardie 25 A. Rogerson 15; K. Tait 19 R. McConnachie 12; G. Sloan 18 D. O’Rouke 22.

The senior gents, after two excellent wins on the bounce, couldn’t quite complete the hat-trick at Ayr.

Unfortunately despite battling hard, they suffered a narrow defeat 64-61. Individual rink scores (Dumbarton skips first) –

R. Kennedy 15 G. Hodge 20; R. Carmouche 20 G. Lang 15; J. McCafferty 15 D. Graham 14; J. Marsland 11 G. Jack 15

LAST weekend, Michelle Keenan, Kevin Anderson and Graeme Sloan had trials for the Scottish ladies and gents under 25 teams.

Michelle was playing at West Lothian, while Kevin and Graeme were involved at Cumbernauld.

After some intense competition at both venues, both Michelle and Graeme were selected to play in the Scottish Junior Teams.

On this occasion, Kevin, who is the youngest of the three, unfortunately failed to be selected but he has plenty of time on his side and his undoubted ability suggests it is only a matter of time before he, too, is selected for representative honours.
