THE Dumbartonshire Women's Bowling Association held its AGM last Monday. Margaret Strattan of Radnor Park was elected as president with Margaret Stevenson (Townend) as vice president.
Myra Hastie (Dumbarton) is secretary while Elizabeth Black (Vale of Leven) was elected treasurer.
District secretaries will be: West 1 – E McLeod (Helensburgh); West 2 – Margaret Smith (Vale of Leven); East 3 – M Cochrane. The East 4 position has not been filled.
The competitions will start on the week commencing Monday, May 3. The inter-district finals will be on June 5 and 6, with the finals at Radnor Park BC on June 16. Bowls will have to be stamped 2010 and upwards.
Around the greens
LAST Friday the ladies from Dumbarton BC held their annual dinner and prizegiving in the clubhouse.

Inter-club leagues
DUE to the withdrawal of Cowal IBC from the ladies inter-club league the ladies had no fixture last Saturday.
After their fine win against the league leaders the previous week, the senior gents team looked forward with confidence to their return fixture with Cumbernauld.
They were behind at the halfway point but staged a great fightback to win 83-60. Individual rink scores (Dumbarton skips first): Robert Kennedy 21, Jim McConnaghie 11; Stewart Shields 21, Alex Stirling 12; David Cole 18, Tom Turnbull 28; Jim Marsland 23, Tom Anderson 9.
Next week the senior gents have an away fixture against Ayr IBC.
The gents team travelled to Irvine last Saturday needing a win to keep them in contention at the top.
But they never managed to gain the initiative and Irvine ran out worthy winners by 82 shots to 61.
