THE West of Scotland Women's Bowling Association held its district finals at Rhu Bowling Club last Monday. Results were:
Singles: Pauline Kirkpatrick (Old Kilpatrick) 21; Helen MacLean (Oban) 17.
Pairs: Elaine Park and Irene Aitken (Cardross) 16; Maureen Lee and Betty Marsland (Townend) 11.
Two-bowl Pairs: Jean Irwin and Marion Mills (Dumbarton) 10; May McEwan and Betty Donaghy (Radnor Park) 17.
Triples: Morag McKenzie, Heather Mullen, Isobel Weir (Vale of Leven) 22; Rhoda Sommerside, Sheena McDonald, Marion McLenaghan (Cardross) 10.
Fours: Ann Campbell, Jane Campbell, Peggy McPherson, Margaret McLaughlin (Oban) 17; Liz McLaughlin, Ellen Brewerton, Mary Owens, Eleanor Graham (Cardross) 14
The winners will go forward to the next round at Brock BC on Tuesday, July 14, at 2pm.
THE Dumbartonshire Bowling Association’s Top Ten competition reached the inter-district semi-final stage in districts 1 and 2 last week.
The results were: Dumbuck BC 2, Vale of Leven BC 6; Rock BC 4, Old Kilpatrick BC 4 (Rock won on shots difference).
In the inter-district final for districts 3 and 4, Singer 1980 BC will play Milngavie BC. The winner of that will meet the winner of Vale of Leven v Rock. The county final will be played at Eastfield BC on Sunday, August 2 at 2pm.
AT the recent AGM of the Scottish Indoor Bowling Association, Tom P Winter of Clydebank Indoor BC was elected to the position of Junior Vice President.
Tom, or TP, as he is affectionately known, is also an umpire for the district.
