Dunbartonshire Women's Bowling Association‘s inter district final contested

LAST Wednesday saw the Dunbartonshire Women's Bowling Association‘s inter district final.

The results were: Champion of Champions: Helensburgh (Annette Christie) 11, Renton (Ann Jardine) 21. Singles: Townend (Beatrice Carmichael) 9, Helensburgh (Norma Muirie) 21. Pairs: Dumbarton (Jean Irwin and May Miller) 20, Garelochhead (Mary Hughes and Maisie Dunlay) 21.

Two-bowl Pairs: Colgrain (Alison Dick and Margaret Anderson) 25, Vale of Leven (Jean Paton and Jean Crichton) 12; Triples: Cardross (Rhoda Sommerside, Elaine Park and Eleanor Graham) 17, Dumbarton (Jean Rose, Helen Roberts and Lindsay Rodgers) 20.

Fours: Cardross (Ellen Brewerton, Sheena McDonald, Jacqui Waltham and Irene Aitken) 24, Dumbarton (Irene Thomson, June Lowson, Mary Lang and Ella Carmichael) 10

The winners will represent the West side of the county on Wednesday, June 17, at 2pm at Cardross BC.

THE latest West of Scotland WBA ties were held last week. Results were:

Singles: Old Kilpatrick 21, Brock 10; Dumbarton 21, Dumbuck 10; Radnor Park 18, Cardross 21; Oban 21, Eastfield 3.

Two-bowl Pairs: Dumbarton 17, Helensburgh 15. Four-bowl Pairs: Dumbarton 22, Ardrishaig 16; Cardross 22, Rhu 8; Townend v Brock objection lodged; Radnor Park 17, Eastfield 12.

Triples: Vale of Leven 23, Ardrishaig 5; Eastfield 23, Helensburgh 7; Cardross 13, Tarbert 12; Oban 10, Dumbarton 19.

Fours: Oban 19, Vale of Leven 13; Old Kilpatrick scr, Townend w/o; Radnor Park 10, Helensburgh 18; Dumbarton 9, Cardross 19.

The next round will be held on Monday, June 15.

THE district semi finals and finals of the SWBA Under 25s singles competition were played last Sunday at Cardross BC.

Semi final results (sets play): Michelle Keenan (Dumbarton) v Louise Watt (Gourock Park) 2-9, 8-6, 2-3 (tie break end); Stacey Lumley (Gourock Park) v Sharon McCallum (Brock BC) 9-2, 8-9, 5-1 (tie break end)

Final: Stacey v Louise 8-10, 11-1, 4-4 (tie break end)

At fourth tie break end Stacey Lumley scored one shot to win the game.

Stacey will now go forward to the National Finals at Northfield Bowling complex in Ayr from July 29 to August 2.

District 1 - Singles: Helensburgh (I McDonald) 21, Dixon (D Hutchison) 16. Junior Singles: Garelochhead (B Freeman) 21, Helensburgh (A Air) 16. Pairs: Helensburgh 17, Cove and Kilcreggan 13. Triples: Colgrain 20, Dixon 13. Fours: Colgrain 19, Cardross 8. Senior Fours: Garelochhead 20, Dixon 5.

District 2 - Singles: Dumbarton (M Connolly Jr) 21, Eastfield (R Bell) 15. Junior Singles: Eastfield (A McFarlane) 8, Renton (R O’Malley) 21. Pairs: Rock 14, Dumbarton 13. Triples: Dumbuck 13, Rock 12 (after an extra end). Fours: Eastfield 21, Vale of Leven 15. Senior Fours: Old Kilpatrick 15, Dumbarton 13.

The inter-district finals for districts 1 and 2 were scheduled for this week at Rock BC.

Singles: Dumbarton v Helensburgh; Junior Singles: Renton v Garelochhead; Pairs: Rock v Helensburgh; Triples: Dumbuck v Colgrain; Fours: Eastfield v Colgrain; Senior Fours: Old Kilpatrick v Garelochhead.

THE Dumbartonshire Under 45s county final was played last Sunday at Campsie BC between Rock BC and Condorrat BC.

After an excellent afternoon's bowling, Condorrat ran out worthy winners by 19 shots to 10. Rock were represented by Ian Hemphill, Alan Brown, Kenny Paton and Robert Innes.
