Dumbartonshire West bowlers look for much-needed win

AFTER last week’s disappointing result against Clamannanshire and Kinross in the Andrew Hamilton Trophy, the Dumbartonshire West team was looking for a much-needed victory against Argyll and Bute at Eastfield BC.

After a bright start the home team eventually fell behind and never really recovered and went down by 116 shots to 96.

Individual rink scores (Dumbarton skips first): Norman Anderson 21, G Annan 10; Stewart A Banks 9, A Scott 19; Alan MacLeod 20, G McLachlan 18; John Hardie 12, S Scott 18; Keith Tait 14, C Bence 22; Kenny Paton 20, D Beattie 29.

However, despite that defeat, the West team and officials did have something to celebrate.

Prior to the start of last Saturday's game, Keith Tait was welcomed on to the green by both teams in celebration of his 100th appearance for the Dumbartonshire West county team.

In the clubhouse after the game, tributes were paid to Keith's achievements by DBA vice president Stewart Shields, who then presented Keith with a clock and a ‘One Hundred Cap’ medal, along with a congratulations card signed by his fellow players and the directors of the association.

Next week the West team travels the short distance across the water to Bishopton BC where they will play Renfrewshire West.
