THE Scottish Women's Bowling Association singles competition started last Friday at Colgrain and Helensburgh bowling clubs.
Results were:

The next round will be held at Eastfield BC on Friday, May 29, at 10am.
The previous Monday, two other national tourneys started. Results were:

The county competitions got started last week as follows:
Champion of Champions: Old Kilpatrick 21, Dumbuck 12; Renton 21, Dumbarton 13; Vale of Leven 21, Townend 3; Eastfield 21, Argyle 17.
Singles: Old Kilpatrick 21, Dumbarton 9; Eastfield 21, Vale of Leven 4; Renton 10, Townend 21; Argyle 21, Brock 19.
Four-bowl pairs: Old Kilpatrick 12, Renton 20; Townend 10, Vale of Leven 22; Dumbarton 22, Dumbuck 6; Argyle 19, Eastfield 11.

Meanwhile, in the Andrew Hamilton Trophy, the postponed game between Dumbartonshire West and Glasgow was played last Monday evening at Yarrow BC, where the West side ran out comfortable winners, 97-67.

On Saturday, they travelled to Clackmannan BC for their second game, and once again the weather played an important part in the match which was curtailed to 17 ends due to a heavy downpour at the start of the game.
Unfortunately, the home team held the advantage throughout the game and won by 90-80. Individual rink scores, Dumbartonshire skips first:

Next week, West have their first home game, against Argyll and Bute at Eastfield BC.
Dumbartonshire East’s postponed match against Lanarkshire South was played last Wednesday evening, with the venue again being Clydebank BC.
There was little in it at the start, but Lanarkshire pulled away to win comfortably 102-79.

The East team played host to Stewartry at Lenzie BC last Saturday, hoping to reverse their fortunes from the first game.
In the end it was a close call, with Dumbarton winning narrowly 124-120.

DUMBARTONSHIRE played their second under-25 game against Stirlingshire last Sunday at Westermains BC.
Unfortunately it was an unsuccessful trip, with Stirlingshire winning 130-112.

Next Sunday Dumbartonshire play Glasgow BA Under 25s at St Vincent BC in Glasgow.
Rock BC played host to the Kindred Clubs last Saturday as part of their 125th anniversary celebrations.
Clubs in attendance were Argyle, Renton, Townend, Dumbarton, Brock, Dumbuck, and Dixon. The Kindred Clubs beat the Rock 125-108.
EASTFIELD BC played host to Thornton BC last Sunday in a national inter-county top ten preliminary round tie.
The game turned out to be very exciting and hard fought with the tie not decided until the last few ends.
At the end of the game Eastfield were successful in the pairs and the triples, while Thornton BC were successful in the pairs and the fours which meant that the tie was decided on shots.
Eastfield scored 70 to their opponents‘ 63 and now go forward to the first round where they will have a home fixture against Lockerbie BC, representing Dumfrieshire BA.
