Indoor bowling: New committee at Dumbarton and District Indoor Bowling Club

AT the recent AGM of Dumbarton and District Indoor Bowling Club the following office bearers were elected:

President – Ian Beaton, vice president – Jaqueline Waltham, secretary – Kirsteen Gillies, treasurer – Robert Watt, immediate past president – Gerrard Devoy.

A number of new committee members were also elected to the board of directors, giving the club a full compliment of office bearers and directors.

THE following club finals have been played over the course of the last week:

Ladies Singles – Rita Murray 16 Annette Christie 21; Fours – Catherine Beaton, Pat Conway, Jean Bell and Mary Morrison 18; Jean Irwin, Elaine Park, Eleanor Graham and Margaret Stickings 21.

Senior Gents Singles – Robert Kennedy 6 Stewart Shields 21; Pairs – Willie Patterson and John Gillies 11, Stewart Shields and Robert Kennedy 18; Triples – Ian MacLeod, Willie Blackie, and Hugh Murray 8; Willie Patterson, Stewart Shields and Robert Kennedy 18.

It is hoped to play a number of semi-final ties this week, and that would raise the possibility of some more finals taking place next weekend.

THE Glasgow & District Indoor Bowling Association finals will take place on Sunday, April 5, at Whiteinch IBC.

In the morning session, commencing at 10am, the following finals will be played: Under 16 singles, under 25 singles, senior gents singles, senior gents pairs, senior gents triples, senior gents fours.

In the afternoon session, starting at 2pm, the following finals will be played Ladies and gents singles, ladies and gents pairs, ladies and gents triples, ladies and gents fours.

Dumbarton and District IBC will be represented in the following finals: Under 16 singles – Richard O'Malley, gents singles – Brian Neeson, gents pairs – John McCarry and John Gillies, gents fours – Robert Sloan, Garry Brown, Kenny Paton and Graeme Sloan.

THE Inter Club League Play-Offs will be played this Saturday, April 4. Dumbarton & District IBC will be represented in the gents and ladies competitions.

The ladies will be playing against West of Scotland and the gents face Coatbridge.

MEANWHILE, a number of clubs open their greens next weekend including Renton, Brock, Eastfield, Dumbuck and Colgrain.
