GETTING out of the winter rut, 41 bowlers from a variety of clubs banded together on Wednesday, February 18, and headed off to Paphos in Cyprus for a two-week adventure.
This holiday took in the seventh European Team Bowls Championship, in which Scotland were represented by Lynn Stein, Michelle Couper, Colin Peacock and Jim Gilruth.
The format of the competition was ladies and gents singles and mixed pairs. After six days of highly competitive bowling, Scotland came out on top after a nail-biting climax involving themselves and England, with Scotland winning the competition by a mere two points.
During the stay, a number of games of bowls were played against the local Phaethon Beach Bowling Club and Aliathon bowling club, when old friendships were renewed and new friendships made.
