Dumbarton FC midfielder ready for Ross County

ROSS Clark is aiming to lay some ghosts to rest at Dumbarton’s Homecoming Scottish Cup third round tie at Ross County on Saturday.

The midfielder played at Dingwall twice for Alloa last season and sustained an injury on the first visit that put him out of action for three months.

But while he was fit enough to make the second trip north, that game brought a 6-1 defeat for the Wasps.

Now the midfielder, who scored Sons’ equaliser in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Albion Rovers, is aiming to put things right.

He said: “Going up there will be a chance for me to exorcise a few demons after the two visits there last season!

“It might be a good thing to have a break from the league. We need to work a bit harder because we know it will be a one-off game.

“We will be the underdogs going away to a first division side but hopefully we will be in good stead ahead of the match.

“There will not be much pressure on us as they are the full-time team, so we will give it our best shot and see what happens.”

Derek Crcary set up Clark on Saturday for his eighth goal of the season. Having scored a 30-yard screamer when Sons last faced the Coatbridge side, he was happy to accept a tap-in this time.

He said: “A goal is a goal, as somebody said to me after the game. I’m pleased to get on the scoresheet again and it was a great run by Derek that set me up.

“I was actually surprised he played the ball across, as I would certainly have gone for it if I was in his position.

“But overall we played poorly, and we have done for the last three weeks after two months playing brilliantly.

“We just need to pick ourselves up and get on with it.”
