Vampire moth discovered in Siberia

JUST in time for Hallowe'en, scientists have discovered a previously-unknown species of vampire moth in Siberia.

It is believed the tiny creatures have evolved from a fruit-eating local species, with the males being the only ones to feed on blood using long barb-like tongue that they drill under the skin. Scientists have theorised that the function is used to pass on salt to females and young.
