Water bosses defend pay

Dunfermline-based Scottish Water chiefs have defended having the highest pay in the public sector.

Four directors earned at least £229,000 last year, Labour MSP Des McNulty told Holyrood's transport, infrastructure and climate change committee.

Chairman Ronnie Mercer said the salary levels were set by the Government - not the organisation's own board.
