Drivers fear bricks hurled from bridge on A82

RECKLESS kids are putting lives at risk by dropping bricks from a flyover on to a busy dual carriageway.

One woman could have been killed when two missiles were thrown from the flyover on the A82 at Renton on to her speeding car below.

They missed the windscreen by inches and left large dents on the roof of her car.

The incident occurred between 1.15pm and 1.30pm last Tuesday.

A police spokesman said: “This was extremely dangerous behaviour.

“A 55-year-old female motorist was driving along the A82 towards Balloch when the incident occurred.

“She was not injured, but there were three dents in her car roof, two of which were large.”

Youngsters were spotted lobbing the bricks off the flyover, but no firm descriptions could be given.

In January last year, teenage yobs were carrying out the same dangerous acts at the flyover in Pappert, Bonhill.

They dropped a heavy object which slammed through a taxi windscreen – and sprayed small shards of glass into the driver’s eye.

He was taken to Vale of Leven Hospital and fortunately his sight was not damaged.

Two years previously, a slab of concrete was thrown from the Bonhill flyover through the roof of a bus.

Anyone who witnessed the incident at Renton flyover last Tuesday is urged to contact Dumbarton police office on 01389 822000.
