Anger over Balloch roundabout pruning

RESIDENTS have accused council bosses of decimating landscaping at a Balloch roundabout.

Bushes and plants leading from Tullichewan roundabout to Stoneymollan roundabout were pruned by West Dunbartonshire Council recently but people living nearby say the work has ruined the look of the area.

One resident, who did not want to be named, said: “All of the bushes have been ripped up and it looks horrendous. We cannot see the reasoning behind this.

“It was much better to see a bit of greenery there rather than large patches of earth.

“This is the first thing visitors see when the come to our area and it doesn’t make a very good impression.”

A council spokesman said the work was necessary to maximise road safety.

He added: “The bushes between Tullichewan roundabout and Stoneymollan roundabout were heavily pruned to improve sight lines for motorists to road signs within the area.”
