Bid to improve road safety for young West Dunbartonshire drivers

YOUNG drivers in West Dunbartonshire are invited to attend a hard-hitting awareness campaign.

The West Dunbartonshire Community Safety Partnership is hosting the Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow on Thursday and Friday, September 11 and 12.

The event will showcase a DVD, filmed on local roads with real emergency services, which highlights the dangers for young drivers.

Emergency services together with other key speakers will be on stage to discuss the campaign and its message.

Constable Gavin Finlay, of Strathclyde Police road policing unit, based at Dumbarton, said: “There are a number of crashes on our roads involving young drivers many of which, increasingly, result in serious injury and in some cases fatal consequences.

“This interactive experience is an excellent opportunity for young people to come along to a presentation, where they will have the opportunity to learn how they can avoid such a life changing event happening to them.”
